University of Calgary: Tenure-track Instructor, Department of Chemistry

The Faculty of Science at the University of Calgary invites applications for a full-time tenure track appointment at the rank of Instructor commencing as early as July 1, 2015.
The appointee will have responsibilities teaching and managing courses in Chemistry, primarily at the first year (general) chemistry level. Experience in teaching organic chemistry is also desirable. Duties will include instruction, as well as course and lab coordination. Experience with, or a desire to, teach chemistry in both the Faculty of Science and Schulich School of Engineering would be considered an asset.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry and a strong, substantial record demonstrating teaching excellence. Experience in instruction at the first year (general) chemistry level is required, and specific experience in CHEM 201, 203, 209, 211, 213, and/or 357 both instruction and coordination, is an asset. The appointee should have a background demonstrating innovation in teaching and learning, and will be expected to remain abreast of current developments in science, particularly in Chemistry, and in pedagogy, particularly as it relates to instruction in Chemistry.

University of Toronto Scarborough: Assistant Professor in Physical, Analytical, or Inorganic Chemistry

The Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences at the University of Toronto Scarborough invites applications from outstanding individuals for a tenure-stream appointment in Chemistry. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor and will begin on January 1, 2016 or shortly thereafter.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry, postdoctoral experience, show evidence of excellence or potential for excellence in teaching, and must demonstrate excellent accomplishments in research. We are particularly interested in individuals who complement and align themselves with the existing strengths of our department in Biological or Environmental Chemistry. We are particularly interested in candidates who could contribute to undergraduate teaching in the areas of physical, analytical, or inorganic chemistry.

The successful candidate will become a member of the University of Toronto tri-campus Graduate Department of Chemistry, and will be actively involved in graduate supervision. It is expected that s/he will develop an internationally recognized program of scholarly research as well as excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
